                         Fudan International Summer School of Life Sciences 2024

Fudan University, building on its past successes in hosting various summer programs, will launch an International Summer School of Life Sciences in 2024 to provide a dynamic and enriching scientific platform for outstanding graduate, undergraduate students and postdoctoral fellow from all over the world. By fostering international academic exchange and communication, the program seeks to create a vibrant community of scholars dedicated to advancing the frontiers of life sciences. International Summer School Introduction

As we embrace the dawn of the 21st century, the significance of life sciences has never been more pronounced. The new era has seen constant progress in life sciences, and its relevance has been increasingly emphasized as the engine of economic and social progress. “The New Era of Life sciences” summer school this year places a spotlight on the groundbreaking fields of RNA biology and Neurobiology. This summer school also incorporates the state-of-the-art research in areas such as big data and Artificial Intelligence. With three meticulously crafted course modules: RNA biology, Neurobiology, Evolutionary & computational biology. Students are empowered to embark on a journey of discovery and innovation.

The international summer school will be held at the picturesque Jiangwan campus of Fudan University from July 22th to August 9th. It is hosted by Fudan University, organized by the School of Life Sciences，the State Key Laboratory of Genetic Engineering and National Advanced Talent Student Training Center in Biology. It will provide a world-class learning environment for the outstanding students focusing on globalization, new frontiers, and interdisciplinary integration and collaboration. Over 20 internationally renowned scholars at the forefront of their fields and with extensive teaching experience have been invited to lecture at the summer school. The summer school will select and invite 150 outstanding students from applicants worldwide. The course will in English on the most up-to-date and popular topics in their respective fields. There will be oral and poster presentations and networking during the course and top students will be awarded.

In addition, participants will have the unique opportunity to foster academic connections and deepen their understanding of the cultural landscape through the summer schools’ city tours, cultural excursions, together with a variety of extracurricular activities, such as visits to high-tech biological enterprises, the Shanghai Natural History Museum, the iconic Nanjing Road Walkway, the enchanting ancient town of Xitang and other exciting destinations.

Registration of the International Summer School

        1.    Qualifications:

Qualifications Applicants must be outstanding undergraduate，graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in life sciences-related field from all over the world.

        2.    Tuitions & Fees:

The summer school is free of tuition and provides free meals for school activities. Transport and accommodation is not covered.

Scholarship: The summer school program will select 20 exceptional students and provide scholarships to help offset travel and accommodation expenses. Please contact us for details.

Applicants from non-English teaching schools shall provide proof of proficiency in English, such as scores of TOEFL, GRE, IELTS, or CET 4 and CET 6.

        4.     How to apply:

Applicants have the flexibility to choose from the following course units: RNA Biology and Neurobiology (July 22-August 4) or Evolutionary & Computational Biology (August 5-August 9), or both units (July 22-August 9). Fudan University will issue Certificate of study for students who have completed the selected courses study.

2024年复旦生命科学国际暑期学校简介

21世纪是生命科学的世纪，在这个崭新纪元里，生命科学不断取得重要创新成就，生命健康的重要性也日益凸显，引领未来经济社会发展。今年的暑期学校仍以“生命科学的新纪元”为主题，聚焦RNA生物学、神经生物学这一生命科学的核心领域，并融合大数据、人工智能的科学前沿，国际暑期学校设计了RNA生物学、神经生物学、进化与计算生物学三个课程模块。

国际暑期学校从7月22日到8月9日在复旦大学江湾校区举行，由复旦大学主办，生命科学学院承办，依托遗传工程国家重点实验室和生物学国家高层次人才培养中心，以国际化、前沿性、融合交叉为特色，为优秀学生拓宽视野、交流思想提供一流的学习平台。学校聘请30余位活跃在该领域学术前沿并有丰富教学经验的国际著名学者为授课教师，全英文集中讲授相关领域的前沿和热点，学校从全球申请者中遴选约150名优秀学员，同时将组织口头报告/墙报等形式研讨交流，评选优秀学员给予奖励。

此外，通过参观高科技企业，走进上海自然博物馆，暑期学员将开启奇妙的科学发现之旅，通过走进西塘古镇、南京路步行街等，体验充满魅力的中华文化。来自国内外的优秀研究生同学将齐聚一堂，亲身体验生命科学科研的奥妙，并结识将在今后学术生涯共事的朋友。

国际暑期学校报名方式：

1.  申请人条件：全球范围内，生命科学相关专业的在读硕士、博士研究生，博士后和优秀的三四年级本科生。

2.  费用说明：暑期学校免收学费，提供参加学校活动的餐食，协助预定住宿，住宿费和交通费用自理。

奖学金：暑期学校项目将遴选约20位优秀学员，提供奖学金，用于分担国际国内旅费和住宿费。具体可咨询项目联系人。
